How much income is tax-free this year?

SourcedSource: taxrate.in rates databaseCompiled 1 July 2026CA review in progress: how verification works

Under the new regime, total income up to ₹12,00,000 pays zero income tax, thanks to the Section 156 rebate (the old Section 87A).

Salaried? Add the ₹75,000 standard deduction: salary up to ₹12,75,000 is tax-free.

Above the ceiling

The rebate does not fall off a cliff: marginal relief phases it out just above the ceiling, so earning one extra rupee never costs you more than that rupee.
